General information on data processing

Scope of processing of personal data

We generally process personal data of our users only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services. The processing of personal data of our users regularly takes place only with the user’s consent. An exception applies in cases where prior consent cannot be obtained for factual reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by legal provisions.

Legal basis for processing personal data

If you have given your consent to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, if special categories of data pursuant to Art. 9(1) GDPR are processed.

In the case of explicit consent to the transfer of personal data to third countries, data processing is also carried out on the basis of Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR.

If the processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR serves as the legal basis. This also applies to processing operations necessary to carry out pre-contractual measures.

If processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR serves as the legal basis.

If processing is necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by us or a third party, and the interests, fundamental rights, and freedoms of the data subject do not override the former interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR serves as the legal basis.

If you have consented to the storage of cookies or access to information on your device (e.g., via device fingerprinting), data processing is additionally based on § 25(1) TTDSG. Consent can be revoked at any time.

Further information on the respective legal bases in individual cases is provided in the following sections of this privacy policy.

Data deletion and storage duration

Unless a more specific storage period is specified within this privacy policy, your personal data will remain with us until the purpose for data processing ceases to apply. If you assert a legitimate request for deletion or revoke your consent to data processing, your data will be deleted unless we have other legally permissible reasons for storing your personal data (e.g., tax or commercial retention periods); in the latter case, deletion will take place after these reasons cease to apply.

The storage and analysis of the data are carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the statistical analysis of user behavior in order to optimize both its website and its advertising. If corresponding consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TTDSG, insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g., device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TTDSG. You may also request deletion if we process your data on the basis of your consent and you withdraw that consent.

Right to restriction of processing pursuant to Art. 18 GDPR:

You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your data if the conditions of Art. 18 GDPR are met. This is the case, for example, if you contest the accuracy of your data. Right to object pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR:

You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR. This also applies to profiling based on these provisions.

We would like to point out that user data may be processed outside the European Union. This may result in risks for users, as it may, for example, make it more difficult to enforce users’ rights.

The processing of users’ personal data is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests in effectively informing users and communicating with them, as well as analyzing and optimizing our online offering in accordance with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. If users are asked by the respective providers for consent to data processing (i.e., they give their consent, for example, by ticking a checkbox or confirming a button), the legal basis for processing is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

We have no influence on the data processing carried out by the respective providers. Furthermore, we would like to point out that the data processed through the use of the networks and platforms is stored solely by the respective provider.
